Black Sesame Sweet Soup promotes lactation! Recipe included.

Black Sesame is a nutritious ingredient for postpartum mom to increase milk supply, prevent constipation and reduce hair loss while keeping it shiny black. It is rich in calcium, iron, protein vitamin E, B1 and zinc minerals, which are especially beneficial to new moms as they help replenish the loss of key vitamins during pregnancy:

  • Calcium reduces the risk of suffering back pain after birth.

  • Vitamin E is powerful antioxidant to protect your cells and skin health

  • Vitamin B1 is essential for glucose metabolism, plays a key role protect nerve, muscle and heart function

  • Zinc is an essential mineral that your body does not make on its own. It aids in metabolism, digestion and immune cells

Certainly, you don't need to be a new mom to enjoy this delightful sesame sweet soup. With so many added benefits, this sweet soup is suitable for all ages and tasty for everyone.

Here is a super easy recipe for you all to try!

Black Sesame Sweet Soup (3-4 portion) Recipe & Instructions

Ingredients: Black Sesame 100g (1 cup), brown sugar 60g (3/8 cup or if you want less 40g which is 1/3 cup), mixed rice 45g (1/4 cup), and water 1000 ml

Use roasted black sesame of around 1 cup. I suggest using roasted sesame from the brand Kadoya. You can buy it here, I like using it because they are pre-washed and roasted for convenience. If you can only find raw sesame, rinse with water and roast them with a pan on low heat until you smell the fragrance and until the sesame are dry.

Use uncooked mixed rice of 45g (1/4 cup). Marigold Healthy 4 in 1 Rice is the brand that I like to use. It is great because you can usually pick it up at Walmart. It essentially has a combination of red cargo, brown jasmine, black berry and white jasmine rice. If you can't find this particular brand, you can simply use white jasmine rice or a combination of the above that you can find in your local grocery store.

Use 60g brown sugar / brown sugar slab (half a slab). Of course you can adjust to your liking. I personally like it mildly sweet.

Direction:

  1. Rinse roasted Black Sesame with water and strain away the water

  2. Add black sesame, mixed rice and water and blend with a food processor until paste reaches fine and smooth consistency for about 3-5 minutes (the longer the better!).

  3. Place the mixture into a pot, add in sugar, cook in medium heat and simmer until bubbles form around the edge of the pot. Approximately 5 mins. Stir occasionally, remove from heat just before it boils.

  4. Add some milk or evaporated milk for even smoother texture (optional).

  5. Enjoy and get lactating! :)
